Today we're throwing in yet another deadlift variation. This time it's Romanian Deadlifts. What makes a deadlift Romanian? I'd say doing deadlifts in Romanian, but if you can't do that, try this instead: The purpose of a Romanian deadlift is to increase hamstring recruitment. This is accomplished by leaving the hips higher than a normal deadlift, thereby reducing the amount of leg drive created by using the quads. The chest should still remain above the hips, and the knees should have a slight bend. Push the hips back to increase the amount of hamstring recruitment, but still use your lats to keep the bar close in to the body and finish by squeezing the glutes.
