Results from the King & Queen of Victoria event

Thank you to everyone who took part of the King & Queen of Victoria event!  It was a lot of fun to lift heavy weights among good friends!  We screamed on a lot of PRs, cheered to motivate each of us to push our limits, and had a great time!  The crowned King is Ray, running away with a good lead.  Ray pressed 225#, back squated 435#, and deadlifted 535# for a CrossFit total of 1195#.  Cheri and Marie-Ève put on a good fight, but Cheri put her game face on and took on the Queen crown.  Cheri got a 105# press, 235# back squat, and 315# deadlift, for a CrossFit total of 655#.  Note that these numbers are real numbers, not the numbers scaled with the Sinclair coefficient; however, the winners were determined according to their scaled CrossFit total.  The results from all participants can be viewed here. The event was an opportunity to gather people in the gym and help Sam and Marie-Ève get donations for their team named "Commit to fit" that will participate in the Easters Seals 24 Hour Relay that will take place on May 31 to June 1 2014 at the UVic Centennial Stadium.  Easter Seals Camps give BC children with disabilities the chance to discover their individual abilities. Camp sessions are carefully planned and designed to encourage these children to gain new skills, develop new friendships, gain confidence and independence – skills that will help them to live lasting and fulfilling lives.  On average, over 800 children with disabilities from all over BC attend a one-week camping session at one of three Easter Seals camps located across the province – Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island, Squamish near Vancouver and Winfield in the Okanagan. It is because of fundraising events like the Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay that the BC Lions Society is able to operate the camping program at a minimal cost to the families, many of whom are already financially burdened by the costs associated with raising children with special needs.  The operating cost to send one child to camp is $2,400.  Hence, our fundraising goal is $2,500.
If you could not attend the King & Queen of Victoria event, you can still donate or register as a participant to the team "Commit to Fit".  To participate, you don't have to be available for the whole 24 hours.  We aim to get as many participants so that each participant will hopefully run or walk for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Thank you everyone :-)
