Are you taking part in the CrossFit Open? You may not be Rich Froning or Annie Thorisdottir.... but you should still think about taking part of the CrossFit Open. The Crossfit Open is the start of the road to the 2014 Crossfit Games. The Open consists of 5 workouts over 5 weeks from February 27 – March 31. All athletes interested in participating have the option to perform each workout at a registered affiliate (CrossFit Zone) or to submit a videotape of their performance to the Games website. CrossFit Zone will be hosting weekly Open workouts at the Friday night fights for all participants to complete their workouts as well as another time as the WOD (TBD). The Open is for EVERYONE! Even if you have no desire to compete or are brand new to Crossfit – EVERYONE is able to participate in these weekly workouts. It's an opportunity for you to gain an appreciation for your strengths, weaknesses and mental toughness. The Open's top 48 men and women in each region move on to the second stage of competition – Regionals! Each Regional will be a 3-day competition. CrossFit Zone are part of the Canada West Region. Canada West Regionals are scheduled for May 9-11th in Vancouver, B.C. Plan to come out to Regionals for the weekend – support local athletes and be a part of the amazing Crossfit community! It's an opportunity to watch top notch athletes in action and network with others who are enjoying Crossfit in other areas. The top 2 individual men and women and the top 2 teams at Regionals will head to California to compete in the 2014 Crossfit Games in July. We encourage anyone and everyone to SIGN up and participate in the Open if you are comfortable with the movements under intensity. Have fun with the workouts and enjoy the community aspect of Crossfit. We want everyone – whether or not you are participating in the Open – to come out and cheer on others each Friday night as they complete each workout.
